Union Notice #22-137: LODD Funeral for District Chief Chris Cauchon Update

The new information we have received is that District Chief Cauchon was promoted to car 42, then transferred to car 14 and his last assignment was Car 13.

After a long battle with cancer, Chris passed away quietly with his family by his side.
Devoted husband to loving wife Bess. Dedicated father to Jonathan and Zoe. Chris leaves behind his beloved father, Dona, and adoring siblings: Jim, Barry, Tom, Laurie, Kim, Alan and Marty. Predeceased by his dear mother Adrienne. Chris will be missed by his large extended family and his Toronto Fire Services family.
The family would like to thank the supportive staff at the Margaret Bahen Hospice, the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, the Mount Sinai Hospital, the Southlake Regional Health Centre, the home care providers from York Region and Durham Region, and their extended family and friends for their love and continued support.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Margaret Bahen Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill Ontario, L4J 1W3. A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow.

Brother Cauchon’s family has decided to have Visitation this coming Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, and Thursday, November 24th, 2022 with the ceremony following the visitation on Thursday.

Visitation: Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 – 9 am to 11 am / 4 pm to 9 pm
Thursday, November 24th, 2022 – 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
LODD Ceremony:
Thursday November 24th 12:00 pm
Collation: – Following the ceremony at the funeral home.
Dress:
TFS personnel attending the funeral are to wear full dress uniform, (white shirt and gloves), and cap.
Cap badges will be shrouded.
Form Up and Rolling Salute
We will be forming up and honouring Chris with a rolling salute. Members will be asked to form up and come to attention when the command is given.
The rolling salute begins at the colours (Canadian Flag) and is completed, at the rear step of the caisson, then bowing your head as the family passes. Continue to stand until you’re dismissed.
Our goal is to make it look like a wave.

Union Notice #22-135: LODD Active Member District Chief Chris Cauchon
Passing of active member District Chief Christian L. Cauchon, brother of Retired TFS Captain Alan Cauchon P226 C-Platoon.
We have been just notified of the passing of District Chief Car 13 C platoon Chris Cauchon at the age of 57.
Brother Cauchon passed this morning from a recognized occupational disease. Chris started with the North York Fire Department on September 26, 1988. Records show that brother Cauchon was Captain of HAZ 145 on C platoon up to February 2012 Then he transferred to pumper 143C platoon in February of the same year. When he was designated as an acting district chief in February 2016 he was transferred to Pumper 132 C platoon. In March 2017, Chris moved to the Aerial 142C platoon, then was promoted to District Chief Car 22 B platoon on R225. Chris transferred to Car 14 B platoon in September 2019 and then transferred to Car 14 C platoon in December 2019.
