Leonard Joseph Shirose – 16 Mar 1937 ~ 24 Oct 2022
SHIROSE, LEONARD – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard Shirose on October 24, 2022, in his 85th year. Beloved best friend and husband of 60 years, cherished father of Christine (Russ) and Leonard Jr. (Alex), and much-loved grandfather of Jessica and Julia. He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Sam (Diane), Rosie, and Mary, and nieces, Cindy, Gail, Michele, Cathy, and Suzie. Of all the people he touched, his proudest achievement in life was marrying Maureen, who supported him in all his glory during his heyday and lovingly supported him during their last days together.
Lenny enjoyed a successful career with the Toronto Fire Department, and also with Red Leaf Realty, for more than 40 years. Len was a dedicated firefighter with the Toronto Fire Department for over 24 years. He began his career on the 16th of February 1963 and retired on the 9th of September 1987.
Besides his family, his greatest passions were stocks (Buy low, Sell high!), real estate (I’ve got this deal!), traveling (trains, boats, and planes), music, and his favorite dog, Tiger – even though he chewed the car’s steering wheel! With his movie-star good looks, often mistaken for George Hamilton, Lenny’s handsome smile accompanied his signature everyday look – black, on black, on black! He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends, who were always entertained by his stories and dry sense of humour. Lenny is now at peace, joining his parents and sisters, Carm, Josie, and Fritzie. He will forever have a seat at the Saturday morning coffee table.
Family and friends will gather at The Simple Alternative, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga, ON, on Friday, November 11th, from 4 – 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Toronto General Hospital, Heart Function Clinic, or your favourite charity would be appreciated.
Our Sincerest Condolences from all our Retiree Groups go out to the Family and Friends.
In Solidarity,
Retired Toronto Fire Fighters Association I.A.F.F. Local 3888
