Captain Douglas Fleming – 7 NOV, 1939 – 28 OCT, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Fleming with family at his side on October 28th, 2022 after a short battle with Cancer. Beloved father of Susan (Kevin) and Tracey (Christian), adoring Papa to Kellyn, and friend of former spouse Ann. Doug is survived by his sister, Betty (Gord), and will also be greatly missed by his nieces Denise and Michele, Great Nieces Stacey and Katie, Great Nephew Brian and Great Great nephew Ethan, extended family members, and dear friends Bob “Smitty”, Bryan and George. A special thank you to Ken Parker, neighbour extraordinaire who was like a son to our father. Your nightly dinners and talks meant the world to Doug.

Douglas was born on November 7th, 1939 to Norman Fleming and Annie Stone. A retired Captain of the Toronto Fire Department for 32 years, he dedicated his life to serving others at #7, 10, 1, and 24 stations. Doug’s happiest times were spent with family and friends and on the golf course. We will all remember him for his kindness, thoughtfulness, witty sense of humour, and love of his family.

The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, unit 4F for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
