Etobicoke Fire Crest

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Retired Captain Roger Train who passed away peacefully at the Mississauga Trillium Hospital on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at the age of 82, with his family by his side. Captain Train started with the Etobicoke Fire Department; both his sons followed in his footsteps. One son, our brother at station 442, Captain Norm Train, is presently on the ADC list. And his second son with Mississauga Fire District Chief, IAFF local 1212 Mississauga executive, OPFFA past VP, and IAFF District 13 field service representative Mark Train.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife of almost 60 years Evalyn (nee Merritt) and his devoted sons Mark (Ann Bryan) and Norm (Stephanie nee – Spicer). Proud grandpa of Clayton, Alanna, Bradley, and Jennifer – how he loved to playfully tease them! Roger will be greatly missed by his sisters Joan Shaw and Patricia Ponzo, his in-laws, and many nieces and nephews and their extended families. As per Roger’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will follow. A private family service will be held for family members only.

Our condolences go out to Retired Captain Roger Train’s, family, friends, and co-workers, Brother Mark Train (IAFF) and, Brother Captain Norm Train (TFS). In memory of Roger Train, donations to either St. Andrew’s Memorial Presbyterian Church (memorial fund) or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Deepest condolences go out to his family and friends from all our Fire Fighter Retiree Groups.
