John “Jack” Crawford, aged 94, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Humber Bay, Toronto, to Eileen and James (Joe) Joseph Crawford, Jack grew up with his siblings James (Jim), Shirley (Bender), and Dorothy (Mickey Maiche).

Jack and his wife, Marie (née Prevost), married young and raised their three sons—Bob (TFS District Chief, Ret’d.; former Fire Chief, Chatham-Kent Fire Department), Ron, and Paul—in Rexdale.

Jack took great pride in his career as a professional firefighter and retired from the Etobicoke Fire Department as a District Chief. In 1969, Jack and Marie acquired a wooded lot on Parry Island, on the shores of Georgian Bay, and built a beautiful cottage that became their home base. They enjoyed many years of fishing and visiting with family and friends in Jack’s little piece of paradise.

Jack is survived by Marie, his wife of 73 years; his sons; his daughters-in-law; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren, all of whom remember him with much love.

The family would like to thank the staff at Copper Terrace in Chatham for their kindness and compassion.
