Mike Ward

February 4, 1946 – May 3, 2026
Michael George Ward passed away peacefully on May 3 2026, at the age of 80.
Born in Nottingham, England, on February 4, 1946, Mike immigrated to Canada at the age of 17, where he built a life centred around family. friendship, and dedicated public service. He proudly served with the Scarborough Fire Department, joining in October 1967 at the age of 21. Over a distinguished 37-year career, Mike rose through the ranks and retired as a District Chief.
Mike was known for his love of soccer, especially his beloved Nottingham Forest, as well as golf and puzzles. He greatly treasured the time spent golfing. gathering for weekly euchre games, and enjoying monthly poker nights filled with laughter, stories, and friendship. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures and cherished every moment spent with family and friends.
Beloved husband of 53 years to Linda Ward (née Wood). Loving father of Chris (Noelle) and Steve (Vicky). Proud Poppa to Taylor, Avery, Abby, and Violet, who brought him endless joy and pride.
Mike will also be dearly missed by his brother lan (Michelle), sisters-in-law Carol and Marg, and brothers-in-law Bob and Lorne, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and former colleagues. Mike’s strength, humour, loyalty, and devotion to his family will be remembered always. He will be forever loved and forever missed.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Sunday, June 28, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
