Captain Norman Albert Patterson – Apr 1938 – Nov 2025

The family of Norman Patterson regrets to announce that he passed away at his farm in Kawartha Lakes on Monday, November 24th, 2025, in his 88th year. Beloved husband for 63 years of Fay (Herdman) Patterson (predeceased December 2021). Loving father of Teresa and her husband Sam Lazarevich of Goderich, and Sheryl and her husband Norman Batty of Fenelon Falls. Fantastic “Poppy” to Spencer and Sammy Lazarevich, and Liam, Avery, and Olivia Batty. Norman is survived by his sister Sandra Patterson of Lindsay, brother-in-law Rob Paterson of Simcoe, nephew Ken, and niece Karen Dewart. Norman is predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Florence (McCloskey) Patterson, brother Russell, and his wife Lily, brother-in-law Don Herdman, sisters in law Doreen Herdman and Lynn Paterson.

Dad was a proud member of the Toronto Fire Department for 34 years before retiring as a Captain. He often spoke proudly of his time as a firefighter. Dad was proud that he had been retired for as long as he had been employed. Dad’s hobby was working. Where others would have cottages and boats, Dad worked hard and long hours on the farm, and though he would complain, sometimes loudly, about things, you don’t do something for 50 years if you genuinely hate it. Dad was a man of his word, and although abrasive and said what he felt, he always had the best interests of people at heart.

If desired, a memorial donation to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes would be appreciated. https://give-can.keela.co/general-donation-form56
