Funeral Information For Captain Wayne Archer, Retired TFS (Former L-1137 EFD)
Wayne Archer – October 19, 1946 – July 19, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frederick Wayne “Wrench” Archer, who left this world on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, in his 79th year. Born in Etobicoke, Ontario, Wayne lived a life marked by resilience, service, and compassion. He was the beloved husband of over 30 years to Brenda Archer (Fraser) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, with whom he shared unwavering love and partnership. Wayne was a devoted father to Erick Cornfoot (Amy Harbin) of London, Ontario, and a proud stepfather to Paul Thistle (Andrea) and Sherri Muhlbacher (Chris) of Quispamsis, New Brunswick. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to Spencer (Cornfoot), Shannon Cameron (Liam), Andrew Thistle (Catherine), Connor, and Logan Muhlbacher.

Wayne dedicated his life to serving his community over three decades as a Firefighter in the Etobicoke and Toronto Fire Departments, retiring proudly as a Captain in 1999. Before that, he obtained his mechanic’s license and worked at Thorncrest Ford from 1966 to 1973. He later owned and operated Master Mechanic in Mississauga for many years — a true testament to his passion for automobiles and his hands-on ingenuity. Never one to rest in retirement, Wayne was always on the move–whether fixing something for a neighbour or driving snowplows for the Town of Caledon. His love for racing, especially NASCAR, sailing, the outdoors, and music were constants in his life. Above all else, Wayne had an extraordinary connection with animals, especially dogs. Over the years, he welcomed many rescues into his home, offering them warmth, care, and the unconditional love they deserved. They returned the favour in kind. Generous with his time and talents, Wayne could always be counted on–day or night–if someone needed help. His selfless spirit, coupled with a quiet strength and practical wisdom, will be deeply missed. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Becker and Dr. Morrisey for their attentive care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne’s memory to your local SPCA–an organization dear to his heart.
Deepest condolences go out to his family and friends from all our Fire Fighter Retiree Groups.
In Solidarity,
Retired Toronto Fire Fighters Association I.A.F.F. Local 3888
