Captain Joseph Leonard Boyd–Mar 1935 – Jun 2025

Joseph Leonard Boyd passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2025. Joe was born and spent his early life in Belfast, Northern Ireland, before immigrating to Canada in his youth to start a new life. Joe then met and married his wife of 66 years, Patricia Boyd, a lifetime beacher, who he now rejoins at rest. Joe quickly settled into the Beach and became a mainstay ever since. Joe could be spotted walking down Queen Street daily, sitting and enjoying a “cuppa” at Kew Gardens, and stopping to chat with many beachers along the way. Joe spent his career giving back to his community by serving as a Toronto Firefighter for over 30 years. He was also known to be a master of all trades- including carpentry, the arts, and had a talented passion for gardening.

A true family man, Joe was always surrounded by his family, who adored him. He is survived by his three children- Kelly Carter (Scott), Heidi Mathers (Ian) and Kerr Boyd (TFS) (Jenelle Cameron); he was loved and cherished as Papa by his 8 grandchildren- Caitlin Mason (Andrew), Cameron Carter, Christopher Mathers, Elizabeth Doran (Peter), Alexander Mathers, Patrick Mathers, Erin Boyd and Cecily Boyd; as well as his 6 great-grandchildren. A friend to all, Joe Boyd will be missed but never forgotten. Joe will have a private family interment at a later date.
