Funeral Information For Captain Patrick McManus, Retired TFS (Former SFD – L626)

Patrick McManus (#573) – 1957 – 2025

Patrick Norman McManus (aka Mr Pat, Patty, Bro) of Scarborough, Ontario, passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the age of 67 after a courageous and determined battle with brain cancer. Born on December 29, 1957, in Scarborough, Ontario, Patrick was a beloved son, brother, proud father, loyal friend, and loving husband. He touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humour, warmth, curiosity, and sociable, outgoing nature.

Patrick was a generous friend with an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. He possessed a brilliant mind, disarming wit, and an empathetic heart. He had a rare gift of building community wherever he found himself, exemplified by his countless loyal friends and acquaintances. Patrick began his career with the Scarborough Fire Department on September 15th, 1981, and proudly served with pride on A-Platoon his entire career. He worked at Stations 244, 245, and 222 before being promoted to the Hazmat Unit at Station 145. He retired on February 29, 2016, after more than 34 years of dedicated service. Patrick was a well-known and respected figure within the fire service and the community, including the Highland Yacht Club. He loved sailing, camping, socializing, his dog, and a good laugh. He was known and loved by many far and wide. He was a proud presence at the annual Toronto St. Patrick’s Day Parade, always seen wearing green and representing his Irish heritage with pride.

Line Of Duty Death Retired Captain Patrick McManus December 29, 1957 – June 2, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Retired Captain Patrick “Patty” McManus, who died June 2, 2025, at the age of 67 from an occupational illness.

Captain McManus began his career with the Scarborough Fire Department on September 15, 1981. He served with pride on A-Platoon throughout his entire career, working at Stations 244, 245, and 222 before being promoted to the Hazmat Unit at Station 145. He retired on February 29, 2016, after more than 34 years of dedicated service.

Patty was a well-known and respected figure within the fire service and the community. For many years, he was a proud presence at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, always seen wearing green and representing the Irish heritage with pride.

Our deepest condolences go out to Captain McManus’s family, friends, and former co-workers during this difficult time.

Dress Code
All Toronto Fire Services personnel attending the funeral are requested to wear full dress uniforms, including:
White shirt
White gloves
Uniform cap
🔲 Cap badges will be shrouded.
Form Up and Rolling Salute
We will form up to honour Patty with a rolling salute. Members are asked to form up and come to attention upon command.
The salute begins at the Canadian flag. The salute is lowered at the rear step of the caisson, followed by a bow of the head as the family passes.
Please remain standing until dismissed.
