Belated Funeral Notice for…
Firefighter William George Craig – July 29, 1944 ~ April 26, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Craig of Cobden, who went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, with his wife Heather by his side in the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the age of 80 years. But we rejoice knowing that Bill went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Absent from the body, present with the Lord! Bill Craig, beloved husband of Heather Craig, nee Hamilton. Dear Father of Stephen (Sophie) Craig. Loving Grand-Dad to Elsa and Fairlee Craig. Also survived by a sister, Jean Smith, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Barbara Haacke and Linda Nesbitt. Bill’s voice was well known in the valley as the host of the radio program “Sunday Praise”, which offered comfort and hope to its listeners. William (Bill) George Craig was born in South Porcupine to (William) Beckett Craig and Effie Cassie Craig. However, home to Bill was his grandfather’s farm just past the Bristol Mines in Quebec. As a young man, Bill worked in the mines in the Timmins area for two years. He studied welding in Toronto before becoming a fireman with the Etobicoke Fire Department on August 12, 1967. He left EFD after 14 years and went into business for himself (Craig Logging and Firewood) in Caledon East. One day, while in the log truck, at the age of 45, Bill asked Jesus into his heart and was saved. He began serving the Lord by telling everyone he met about Jesus Christ. He started hosting the radio program “Sunday Praise” on Joy Radio out of Toronto in 2001, and then here on Valley Heritage Radio since it first began. When he retired from logging, he moved to Cobden on the old Mansel Hill Farm.
In lieu of Flowers or Trees, donations to Compassion Canada or the Graphite Bible Camp for Kids, Maynooth, Ontario, would be appreciated. https://www.frasermorrisheubner.com/obituary/Bill-Craig
