Robert McMillan – 05 Jun 1962 ~ 17 May 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Scott McMillan on May 17, 2025, at the age of 62, beloved husband of Joanne Volo, his high school sweetheart. Together since the age of 14, they were married in 1998 and shared a lifelong bond built on love, friendship, and unwavering support. Robert is survived by his mother, Lorraine Doreen Jensen McMillan, and lovingly remembered by his sisters Susan McKeen, Catherine Krieger (Bruce), Jane Taylor (Greg), nieces and nephews(grandnephews), and family friend Chuck Teilinger. He is predeceased by his father, Dr. William Robert McMillan, and father-in-law, Eduardo Volo. He will be deeply missed by his close friends Rick (Marjorie), Gord and family, Chuck, and Greg, as well as his sister-in-law, Rosemarie Volo, and his beloved fur babies.

He made many new close friends over the years in the fire department and maintained a close relationship with friends from high school as well. Robert proudly served for many years with the Toronto Fire Department (1996), then Toronto Fire Services until 2024, where he found great meaning and purpose in helping others. He was a proud and dedicated firefighter, known for his bravery, compassion, and the deep camaraderie he shared with his fellow firefighters.
Outside of his career, Robert was a passionate skier and a skilled ski instructor who loved sharing his love for the slopes. He also had an incredible talent for teaching and learning new skills. He was self-taught in every project he initiated and readily shared his knowledge with others. He found joy in helping others and had a generous heart. His kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering willingness to help will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
Following the service, a Celebration of Life Gathering will take place in the funeral home’s reception centre from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., where guests are welcome to share memories and honour Robert’s life.
