Captain Stanley Harris Egerton – Oct 1925 – Jan 2025

It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of our patriarch Stanley Egerton on January 12, 2025, peacefully in his 100th year. He left us surrounded by his loving family at the Sunnybrook Hospital’s Veteran Centre. Stanley was the loving father of Jim and his wife Michelle. Loving grandfather “poppy” of 9 grandchildren; Kelly, Denise, Kimberly (Pat), Shawn (Kim), Shannon (Sherisse), Stacie (Massimo), Stanley III (Tina), Ryley, and Jenna.

Stanley’s life was marked by service and dedication. Born and raised in Toronto, he excelled in track and field during his youth. At 16, he enlisted in the Toronto Scottish Regiment and courageously served in the Normandy Campaign. After returning home, he became a Police Officer before dedicating 40 years to the City of Toronto as a Firefighter. His passion for athletics endured, and he proudly represented Canada on the National Track and Field Team and the Masters Team, competing internationally. Stan was also a long serving member of the Toronto Fire Fighters War Veterans’ Association.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hung and all her staff at the Sunnybrook Hospital’s Veteran Centre “L” Wing First Floor for their compassionate care, with a special thank you to Mandy and Camille.
