Funeral Information For Firefighter Stephen Joseph Cyr Retired TFS – Former NYFD (L-752)
Stephen Cyr – Aug 21st, 1950, ~ Aug 12th, 2024
After a lengthy illness with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Steve passed away with his wife and daughters by his side. Steve faced this horrible brain disorder with the same bravery and courage he gave to his career as a firefighter. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Marsha, his daughter Lisa (Murdo), and Ashlee (D.J.). His grandchildren Damian and Ava will also miss their Papa. He is also survived by his mother, 5 brothers and 1 sister. He was predeceased by his father.
Steve was a 30-year veteran of Toronto Fire Services, starting with North York in 1979 before amalgamation, finishing his career at Station 146.
In addition to his career as a firefighter, Steve was also a master carpenter, graduating from George Brown College in 1974, and ran a successful contracting business before retiring in 2009.
Special thanks to the R.P.N.’s and P.S.W.’s of Marshview Wing, Grandview Lodge for their care and compassion during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is planned for a later date. If desired, donations to the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
