George peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the age of 78 years young. Dearly beloved husband of Doris Wood (nee Yeo) for 55 loving years. Dear father of Kevin (Joanne) and Ryan (Danielle). George was an adored “Papa G.” to Joshua, Ethan, Matthew, Kaylie, and Kaden. Brother-in-law to Yvonne Campbell (Rob). Remembered fondly by his brotherhood of fellow firefighters.
George has left us with a legacy of love, friendships, memories, and too many laughs to count. A Captain with the Toronto Fire Department for 22 years. He was forced to retire early due to health complications caused by polymyositis however, nothing would stop him from keeping busy and living life to the fullest. His unparalleled resilience and always positive demeanor allowed him to continue to do all the things he loved including travel, golf, visiting with friends, and being his grandchildren’s #1 hockey fan. He will be remembered for his love of Corvettes, Elvis, the stock market, hockey, golf, a good scotch, and his unwavering love for his family.
He and his family are grateful to the nurses and doctors at Credit Valley and Trillium hospitals for their tireless efforts.
A private family funeral will take place at Turner & Porter – Peel Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
