Captain James Rae Seagrove – 07 Dec 1933~ 25 Nov 2023

With profound sadness following a brief illness on Nov 25, 2023, James Rae Seagrove of Toronto passed away at the age of 89 yrs. Peacefully with his son Peter, daughter-in-law Anna, and grandchildren Emily and James by his side. James will be remembered by Doris; children Paul ( Elias ), and Peter (Anna); grandchildren, Emily and James; and sibling Norm. James was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Lilly; and siblings George, Margaret, Joyce, and Chuck. After proudly serving with the Toronto Fire Service for 38 1/2 years alongside friends who shared a passion for serving the community and endless laughs, James retired and enjoyed golf, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Jim was a proud member of the Toronto Fire Department where he rose to the position of Captain. His career began with the TFD on the 9th of August 1957. He was promoted to Captain on the 12th of December 1983, retired on the 17th of January 1994, and enjoyed 29 years in retirement. Jim was also a member of the Toronto Fire Fighters’ War Veterans Association, he has been missed at the monthly meetings.

A private family service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Peter and Anna would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Village of Humber Heights Retirement Residence for their outstanding compassion and care. Also, a deep appreciation to Ward Funeral Home for their support, empathy, and professionalism in assisting James reach his final resting place, with his parents, siblings, and lifelong friends.
