Subject: Ontario Fallen Firefighters Memorial on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at 13:00 hrs.

To: All Members and Retirees

This Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 13:00 the Ontario Fallen Firefighters Memorial is being held at Queens Park. The Memorial is located at the Northeast corner of College and University. There are more than 913 Ontario Line of Duty Death Firefighters whose names have been etched in memory; the first reported Line of Duty Death dates back to 1848. Amongst the Fallen is the first Toronto Firefighter William Thornton who died at the age of 22 when a wall collapsed fracturing his skull. You can find more information here.

This Sunday we will be honouring the following nine Toronto Firefighters who were recognized as LODD from July 31st, 2022, to July 31st, 2023

We are formally inviting all our members to join us for this local memorial this coming Sunday.

Form up will be at 12:30 pm just north of the memorial at University and Grosvenor. Members are asked to wear their tunics, white shirts, and white gloves. TPFFA will have white gloves on hand for members who have not had any.

Let’s have a strong showing and show our support in honouring our fallen. The ceremony is scheduled to only be an hour in duration.
