John Lemieux – 1938 ~ 2023
Born May 17, 1931, in Cochrane, Ontario son of Joseph Lemieux and Flore Morin. Joseph migrated from the French community of Waterbury Connecticut for a career on the Northern Ontario Railway. On August 4, 2023, John died peacefully in his Toronto home at the age of 92. Predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Joan (nee Ryan), and his daughter Denise. John is survived by his three sons Bill (& Leanne Suitor), Paul, and Peter (& Susan), grandchildren Eric (& Marie), Ian, and Gillian, and his loving companion for the last 20 years, Flora Rzezniczek.
John’s Career with the North York Fire Department began on the 4th of May 1959 and he retired on the 26th of May 1989, after 35 Years. John enjoyed 34 Years of Retirement. John was a very active member of the Toronto Fire Fighters’ War Veterans Association and a long-standing member of the Colour Guard! He will be missed at the monthly meetings.
