Firefighter Donald Norman Jackson – 18 May 1934 – 25 July 2023
Donald passed away peacefully at Matthew House Hospice surrounded by loving family. Donald (Skip) Jackson, in his 90th year, was the beloved husband of the late Madge (nee McIlravey). Devoted father of Debbie (Rob) Hamilton, Norman Jackson (deceased), and Don (Colleen) Jackson. Proud Grandfather of Megan, Erin (JJ) and Dylan.
A retired firefighter with the City of Toronto, Don enjoyed his retirement puttering around his farm in Beaverton and spending winters in Florida. Don was a dedicated Firefighter with the Toronto Fire Department. He began his career with TFD on the 09th of August 1957 and retired on the 23rd of May 1994 after 37 years of service. He was assigned to several stations (26 (323), 11(313) & 22(226) over his career, all on the B2 Shift (B). Don enjoyed 29 years of Retirement.
The family would like to thank all of the staff and volunteers at Matthew House for welcoming Dad and the family into their arms and providing such heartfelt care on Dad’s final journey. At Don’s request, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
Don is in the care of the Paul O’Connor Funeral Home. Memorial donations to Matthews House Hospice in Alliston would be greatly appreciated by the family.
