Funeral Information for Captain Ronald Roman Guspie Retired East York (L-418)
Ronald Roman Guspie – February 3, 1938 – July 24, 2023
Peacefully passed with family by his side at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on Monday, July 24th, 2023 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of Sally (née Watson). Loving father of Carmil Van Es (Ron) and the late Danny Guspie. Father-in-law of Heidi Guspie (née Nabert). Proud grandfather of Alexander Van Es, Cameron Van Es, Sarah Van Es, Elizabeth Van Es, Elyenne Guspie (Tyronne Lafleur). Great grandfather of Alyssa, Sean and Vanessa. Will be missed by his sister-in-law June Watson (the late Eddie King) and his brother-in-law the late Bill Watson (Sonia). Dear nephew of Tina Guspie. Sadly missed by his cousins Dave Guspie, Joice Guspie, Shirley Reynolds, Karen Guspie, Mark Guspie, Debe Carley, Gary Guspie and his nieces and nephews Darryl Watson, Sherry Watson, Gregory Watson and their families. Predeceased by his nephew Eddie Watson. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Caroline Guspie. Ron leaves behind his fur friend and grand dog Daisy.

Ron will be missed by his extended family members and many dear friends including all of his long-time friends who he met and worked with while working at the Fire Department. Ron was a proud member of the Barrie Legion Branch #147 and was a retired captain for the East York Fire Department. Ron worked as a firefighter for over 33 years and had made many connections and lifelong friendships throughout his career. He absolutely loved sports, especially tennis, racket ball, hockey and baseball. A true family man who enjoyed spending any time he could with his large but close-knit family.

Funeral Service – Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at 11 am Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie
Reception – Saturday, July 29th, 2023 from 12-1:30 pm Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. Interment to follow at the Innisvale Cemetery, 7551 5th Side Rd., Innisfil at approximately 2:15 pm.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express their many thanks to all the staff, nurses and doctors at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie Manor and Mill Creek Care Centre who treated Ron with the utmost care and compassion. Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to either the Salvation Army or the Canadian Cancer Society and are greatly appreciated by the family.
