Captain Louis Leo Romanelli – 31 July 1931 ~ 15 April 2023

Beloved and devoted husband and soulmate of Doreen; dear son of the late Giovanni and Moriah Romanelli; dearly loved father of Jim (Maura) and the late Peter; and stepfather of Derek, Kevin and Joe O’Gorman. Forever loved and dearly missed papa of Connor O’Gorman; and loving grandpa of Sean, Nicole (Jeremy) and Eric Romanelli. Loving brother of late siblings, Dorothy (Art), Kate (Ross), Jack (Erma) and Marie; and adored nephew of the late orchestra leader, Luigi Romanelli. Lou will be fondly remembered by his family, his many friends, and by those who worked alongside him during his 38 years with the Toronto Fire Department from July 1957 to February 1995, when he retired as Captain. He displayed a wonderful sense of humour and a smile that would light up a room. Lou always had a kind word for everyone. He will be dearly missed by all. Over the years, Lou and Doreen shared their love for each other with their beloved pets, and their dogs and cats reaped the benefits. Dickens, Duke, Perry, Hope and grand-cat, Tigger, are all joyfully greeting “Daddy” now on the rainbow bridge. Lou’s grand-dog, Domino, will miss his company while relaxing with him on the front deck at the cottage; as will his grand-cat, Twinkle.

Lou was a member of the Toronto Fire Fighters’ War Veterans Association
