Captain Kenneth Gill – 1938 ~ 2023

Ken’s family is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, February 16th, 2023, from complications arising from a battle with covid. Ken died peacefully with his daughter by his side. Ken leaves behind his children Belinda (Brad) and Corey (Darlene); and his grandchildren Jaime, Brandon, Cameron, Brycen, and Noah.

Ken was born in Toronto and built a rewarding life full of loving family and friends. Ken found his first love in the fire department, where he retired as a captain after 30 years of service. Ken began his career with the Toronto Fire Department on the 12th of October 1962, he was promoted to Captain on the 28h of May 1984 and retired on the 1st of June 1992.

Ken met his soul mate shortly after, marrying Brenda in 1965 which resulted in a marriage that lasted 50 years; only ended with her passing in 2015 (though his love never ended). His family is happy with the knowledge that he will finally be reunited with her. Ken spent his retirement years in two of his favourite places – Stoco, Ontario, and Fort Myers Florida. In a testament to his love of family and friends, he was joined by many as neighbours and visitors in both of these locations. We know he will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends in the GTA, Tweed, Wilmot Creek, and Poinsettia Park.

The family would like to express their sincere and appreciative thanks to the staff at Lakeridge Health (Oshawa) and the Village of Taunton Mills (Whitby) for the care and support of him during his final years.

Finally, the family would also like to thank all their friends and family for the support and prayers they provided during this difficult time. Private interment has been held at Bowmanville Cemetery.
