Capt. Donald Norman Muir – 30 Jul 1933 – 04 Dec 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Norman Muir announce his sudden passing on Sunday, December 4th in Peterborough, at the age of 76.
Don grew up in Toronto and had a long career serving the city as a proud Fire Fighter and retired as a Captain after 31 dedicated years. Don started with the Toronto Fire Department on December 1st, 1975, and on January 22, 1976, was assigned to 131A (28A) on the C platoon. April 22nd, 1977, transferred to P132C (34P) then to P324 (12P) on A-platoon on January 16th, 1978. June 30th, 1980, drove the deputy on Car 52, then Aerial 226 (22A) on April 5th, 1982, and Pumper 226 (22P) on July 15th, of the same year. Donald received his captain’s bars on April 11th, 1994, and retired on July 31st, 2006.
Don loved spending time in the outdoors and being with his family most of all. Though a man of few words, he was always ready with a story from his days on the Fire Department or a silly dad joke to brighten someone’s day. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Mae Muir, and his brother Richard Muir. Forever remembered as a loving and devoted father to his children; Jeffrey Muir and active member Captain Patrick Muir (Rebecca) Muir and as a beloved Papa to his grandson, Jackson Muir. Dear brother to Stanley (Elizabeth) Muir and Brian (Cathy) Muir. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews, his former wife, Linda Muir, and many close friends.
