Captain Douglas Hugh English – 19 Jan 1935 – 27 Nov 2022

Doug passed away peacefully on November 27, 2022, at 87 years of age. Cherished husband for 51 years to Joyce (nee Mann, 2009). Beloved Father to Rick and Liz English, loving Grandpa to Aaron & Paige, Lisa & Marek, Great-Grandpa to Adeline, and dearest Brother-in-Law to Bill, Harry (1989), Mary and Marie Mann. He will be sadly missed by his family and many of his close friends.

Doug was a firefighter and Captain on the City of Toronto Fire Department for 36 years. Doug began his career on the 20th of September 1957, was promoted to Captain on the 6th of November 1989, and retired on the 16th of January 1994. He was a sports fan and an avid golfer, skier, and hockey player. Doug was a member of the Balmy Beach Club for decades where he made many memories and long-lasting friendships. He was a wonderful storyteller and always lit up a room.
