Passing of Active Member Firefighter Jason Tibor Pal (413 D)
Jason Tibor Pal – Nov 20, 1972 – Jun 10, 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the recent sudden passing of our beloved son and brother, Jay (Jason) Pal. He is survived by his mother Sylvia (the late Tibor), brothers David (Tania) and Kevin (Mary Kate), and six nieces and nephews. Jay was a man of many talents. He loved machines – cars, motorcycles, tractors, and engines of every kind. He “listened” to them and could repair almost anything. He was also a skilled craftsman and recently replaced his mother’s rotting deck.
As a boy, he played AAA hockey and Rep soccer, raced motocross, rode snowmobiles, and miraculously survived to adulthood. In his early twenties, he became a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician through Centennial College and worked in Oak Ridges as a mechanic for some time.

After the family storage shed accidentally caught fire he joined King Township Fire Services as a volunteer firefighter and eventually moved on to become a full-time firefighter for Toronto’s Fire Services, and remained at Station 413 for his whole career. He served proudly for 17 years right up until his sudden passing. He recently passed the exams to become an Acting Captain and was to be offered a placement this week. Over the course of his career, he received two commendations for bringing victims back to life.
He loved music and played the guitar; he was happiest at his cottage on Lake Manitouwabing- fishing, boating, and taking kids tubing (and let’s not forget barbecuing beer can chicken)! He was a generous and loyal friend, son, and brother, always willing to help, and always trying to make us laugh. He had a great sense of humour.
We will miss you immensely, Jay. A life lost too soon. Your loving family.

TFS personnel attending the funeral are to wear full dress uniform, (white shirt and gloves), and cap. Cap badges will not be shrouded. We will be forming up and honouring Jason with a rolling salute. Members will be asked to form up and come to attention when the command is given. The rolling salute begins at the colours (Canadian Flag) and is completed, at the rear step of the caisson, then bowing your head as the family passes. Continue to stand at attention until you’re dismissed. The goal is to make it look like a wave.
