Funeral Information for Stanley Edward (Ed) Arsenault Retired North York Fire L752

Stanley Edward (Ed) Arsenault –1947 ~ 2022

The family of Stanley Edward (Ed) Arsenault is saddened to announce his passing on May 12, 2022. After a battle with cancer for several years, we are comforted that he is no longer in pain and glad that we were able to be by his side. Ed is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Margaret Elizabeth Arsenault (nee Champion), son Chris Arsenault, daughter Lesley (Kelly) Anderson, and grandson Mason Anderson. He is also survived by siblings Roger (Dee) Arsenault, Lorraine (Ted) Campbell, Gary (Josephine) Arsenault, Michael and Gerald Arsenault. Ed was predeceased by parents Rennie Leo Arsenault and Maryann (Bernard) Arsenault, and sister Shirley Phillips.

Ed was born in Wellington, Prince Edward Island on March 16, 1947, to Rennie and Maryann. He grew up in Summerside, PEI before leaving to join the Air Force in Ontario. Following several years in the Air Force as a firefighter, he joined the North York Fire Department in the early 1970s. Ed was a proud firefighter with the North York Fire Department until his retirement in 1996 and stayed connected with his friends and colleagues throughout his retirement. He had been looking forward to an upcoming visit to Toronto to reconnect with other members of the Retirees Association, and other friends, from his many years living in Markham, Ontario.

Following retirement, Ed and Margaret moved to Stratford, Prince Edward Island in 1996 followed by a move to Port Perry, Ontario, and finally to Okotoks, Alberta.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff in Unit 66 at the South Health Calgary Hospital, who kept him comfortable throughout his stay and supported us through his final days. Ed had also received amazing care from the staff at High River Community Cancer Centre over the past 6 years.

Rest in peace brother Arsenault!

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends from all our Fire Fighter Retiree Groups.
