Captain Bryan Abel – 16-Apr-1944 – 09-Mar-2022
With broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Bryan George Abel on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, in his 78th year. Predeceased by his parents George and Doreen Abel (nee Robinson). Bryan leaves his darling wife Sandra (nee Kilbreath), who was the light of his life for 57 years. Dear father of Leann (James), and Steven (Nya). Adored Papa to Kaitlin, Cameron, Chloe, and Brooke. Bryan will be missed by many extended families, including his brother Bruce (Judy), his sister-in-law Carolyn and brother-in-law Bob (Kathy).
Bryan was considered a hero by all, he served 30 years as an Etobicoke fire fighter and Captain. During this time he spent many years working part-time at Eaton’s shipping and receiving department as well. Throughout his retirement years, he spent countless hours at the Muskoka cottage on Gull Lake with family and friends. Over the years he enjoyed many trips to Florida, playing baseball and five pin bowling, watching all types of sports, especially hockey, painting, listening to music, and doing his Sunday puzzles. He was the proudest Papa and attended many of his grandchildren’s hockey, soccer, and lacrosse games, dance recitals and dance or cheer competitions, music nights, and watching all sorts of musicals. Bryan gave selflessly of his time and was never too tired to help a friend or stranger. The world is so much quieter without him in it. He will be greatly missed.
Family and Friends may join us for the Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 1 pm at the Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery – 10061 Chinguacousy Rd. Brampton (at Bovaird) 905-460-9155.
