Gordon Elmore Smith – March 19, 1925 ~ November 14, 2021

Gordon E. Smith passed into glory on November 14, 2021, at the age of 96 years and 7 months. Predeceased by beloved wife Doris Daisy Smith, his wife of 64 years, (Sept 2010). Survived by his loving wife Audrey Collens-Smith. Loving father to his children, Ross (Sharon), Murray and Cheryl, stepdaughters, Wendy (Bruce), Sandy (Chester), Patti (Rick). Cherished grandfather to his 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, will be sadly missed by his sisters Eileen, Ellamae, and Vera (Doug). Predeceased by brother Albert (Marion) and sister Margaret (Mack). Born March 19, 1925 and raised in Humber Bay, Etobicoke, On.

Raised on a farm he left school in grade six to work on the farm. He did complete his grade 12 at night school. Gordon proudly served his country during WW-2 joining the Canadian Airborne Paratroopers serving overseas in England, India, and Burma.

After the war, he joined the Etobicoke Fire Department and after serving 35 years retired and moved to Bala, On. He was an active long-time member of Long Branch Baptist church Etobicoke and served Glenwood Chapel, Glen Orchard heading their building committee and as a deacon. Gordon remained active at Calvary Baptist in Gravenhurst the last few years. He was a life member at the Bala Legion 424 and later joined Gravenhurst Legion 302.
