DC William “Bill” Shannon – Oct 1935 – Nov 2021

Bill peacefully passed away at Northumberland Hills Hospital on November 2nd, 2021 with his wife of 65 years, Yvonne Shannon at his side. A wonderful father to Bradley Shannon (Carrie), Christine Long (Garry), and Matthew Shannon (Tracey Kelly). A loving Grampa to Christopher Long, Jennifer Lawrie, Hollie McNulty, Lucas Shannon, and Emily Shannon. A proud Great Grampa to Shaylynn and Adaira.

Bill was a proud member of the Toronto Fire Department, retiring in 1997 as a District Chief after 35 years of service. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Dalewood Golf Club. We can take pleasure in knowing that Bill has joined his many friends on the permanent 19th hole!

Friends are invited to call at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg on Friday, November 12th, 2021, from 1-2 pm., followed by a memorial service at 2 pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, everyone in attendance must show proof of full vaccination, prior to entering.

If desired donations may be made to Northumberland Hills Hospital – Palliative Care Unit or SickKids. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Palliative Care Unit at Northumberland Hills Hospital, for the care, support, and comfort given to Bill and to our family. There will be a Celebration of Bill’s life in April of 2022 at Dalewood Golf Course.
