Captain Charles John Powell – 1932 ~ 2021

Powell, Charles John (Retired 35-year employee of Toronto Fire)

Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the age of 89. Beloved husband Joan and the late Florence. Loving father of Cathy Walker, Cindy Chenier (Bruce), Corrie Weames (Greg), Greg Haley (Donna), and Theresa Lang. Devoted grandfather to Hayden (Becca), Darcy, Zach (Maddie), Avery, Evan, Parker, Makenna, Camryn, Brad (Rachel), Paige, and Richard. Also, a devoted great grandfather to Jack and Mason. Dear brother of the late Mary Nepiuk, Roger, Joe, and Frank Powell. Will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Charlie began his career with The Toronto Fire Department on July 12th, 1957, and retired as a Captain after 35 years of service.

Relatives and friends are required to register if they wish to attend visitation by calling Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby at 905-443-3376. Visitation will be held in 30-minute increments on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 21 Bayly Street East, Ajax on Thursday, October 14th, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Registration will be taken at the door.

Charlie was a proud member of the Toronto Firefighters War Veterans Association Charlie was also a regular attendee at the Retiree Breakfasts and will be missed!
