Subject: Line of Duty Death of APC Glen Sherwood *Update*
Brothers and Sisters,
The LODD service for APC Glenn Sherwood will be held this Friday, February 26, 2021, at 11:00am.
Chief Sherwood’s service will be broadcast live for our members to watch, and the link will be posted as soon as it becomes available. Due to the current covid climate, the family wishes are that uniformed personnel safely watch the service from home. Kristy Sherwood stated, “Glenn wouldn’t want his ceremony to affect future ceremonies” Only invited family, guests, and personnel that are involved with the service are asked to attend.
Let’s please honour the families’ wishes, to not draw attention to Toronto Firefighters during this time of covid and participate from home.

Line of Duty Death of APC Glen Sherwood
Regrettably, we lost Active Member Acting Platoon Chief 10, Glenn Sherwood early this morning at the age of 59, from an occupational recognized cancer. Brother Sherwood at the age of 23 started his career with the East York Fire Department at Station 224 on August 27, 1984, and took on the role of an on-shift training officer. Glenn’s career took him all across this city to Stations 321, 322, 333, 313, 312, 415, 231, 332, 111, and 114, working in all Commands and on all Platoons.
Our brother, Glenn Sherwood became an Acting District Chief on January 1, 2009, then promoted to District Chief on July 29, 2013, then on June 22, 2015, became an Acting Platoon Chief car 11 running out of station 111, and station 116, while Acting as Platoon Chief 10 out of Station 114. Glenn had a passion for hockey, playing in several leagues as a goalie, including but not limited to, the Toronto Firefighters hockey league and The Toronto Firefighters Oldtimers league. Glenn continued with hockey after his surgery and decided to trade in his goalie pads for shin pads.
Our heartfelt condolences out to Glenn’s Father Evan, Retired East York Captain, his wife Kristy, Sons Kevin and Christopher, and his brother Retired R115 Captain Brian Sherwood. We are working with the funeral home (Kane-Jarrett Funeral Home 8088 Young St.) to live stream the service to our membership. We will update the membership as details become available.
Rest in peace Brother Sherwood.
