Paul Laanvere – Sept 23rd 1931 – January 13th 2021

LAANVERE, PAUL died peacefully, on January 13, 2021, at Ehatare Retirement Home at the age of 89. Retired Toronto Firefighter. Predeceased by Aino, his loving wife of 68 years, Paul is remembered by his son Richard (Marcia Ross) and his adored grandchildren, Michael (Kinsey Good) and Erika (Matt Pflance). Paul was born in Estonia, but during the war at the age of 13, he and his father were able to find refuge in Sweden where they lived for several years. In 1951, he decided to move to Canada for new opportunities. One of those opportunities was when Aino spotted Paul on the ship’s voyage to Canada and they started their 68-year romance.

Paul was a proud Fire Fighter with The Toronto Fire Department. He joined on August 9th,1957, Badge #808, and retired on September 21st ,1992 after 35 years. He Spent most of his career at Station 34 B1 (Now 131 D). A private family funeral and burial will occur on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the York Funeral Centre. There will be a Celebration of Life scheduled for a future date.
