Captain Robert C. Tilley – 1944 ~ 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert C. Tilley “Bob” on October 26, 2026, at the age of 82. Loving husband of Orma Tilley for 64 years. Cherished father of Sean (Amy) Tilley and Mark (Christine) Tilley. Proud Grandpa of Jacqueline, Jessica, Joshua, Logan, and Nathan. Great-grandpa of Wyatt and Wrenleigh. Dear brother of Gail (Bob) Griffiths and the late Marlene Viola. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Bob was a devoted family man, a dedicated community leader, and a friend to many. Having lived in Kearney for many years, he became an integral part of the community, serving as a councillor for many years and generously volunteering his time and talents wherever they were needed. Service to others was truly at the heart of who Bob was. He dedicated 33 years as a first responder, pursuing his calling as a firefighter with passion and commitment, eventually becoming Captain of his unit in Etobicoke. His love of community and helping others extended into many other areas of his life. He was one of the founders of the Etobicoke Master Swimming Club, a swimming coach, and a leader with Cubs and Scouts, inspiring and mentoring many along the way. Alongside his wife, Orma, he was very involved with the Lyons Club in Kearney in his retirement.
Beyond his many accomplishments, Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humour, sharp mind (sometimes too smart for his own good!), and his love of reading, especially science fiction. Above all, he cherished his family and the relationships he built throughout his life. Bob gave so much of himself to others, leaving behind a legacy of service, kindness, leadership and laughter. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
As per Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
