Funeral Information for DC Charles Bernard Houston, Retired L752 North York Fire
Charles Bernard Houston – Aug 22, 1932 – Aug 16, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Bernard Houston, a father of six, a loving husband to Eva, and a mentor and friend to so many. Bernie left this earth as he lived his life: surrounded by friends and family, with a twinkle in his eye and a smart-ass story to share that made you smile and groan.

As a firefighter and District Chief, Bernie dedicated 33 years to supporting his
community and his family. He worked in North York, lived in Richmond Hill, and
retired in September 1991. Bernie was a family leader—a strong and proud man who
contributed to his family, his church, and his community. He passed away on August
16, 2026, at the age of almost 94, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. He had
been residing at William Place Retirement Home in Lindsay.
Bernie, the third child of William and Dorothy Houston, was born in Tonawanda, NY, on August 22, 1932. The young family moved to Toronto, where Bernie grew up with 13 brothers and sisters. He later married his loving wife, Eva Theresa Houston (Stinson), with whom he shared 52 years. Together, they settled in Richmond Hill to raise their family and later retired to their home on Sturgeon Lake near Lindsay.
